I agree. Her drumming - especially live - was just perfect. Not more or less than it needed to be, every time. And what a massive sound just Meg and Jack could make together.

The whole article is good, if all second or third hand, because Meg White doesn't do interviews.

And damn, I still miss the White Stripes. They were just amazing, album after album after album.

The White Stripes - De Stilj turns 20

NPR has a nice article up about The White Stripes and their second album, De Stilj.

Me, I didn't discover them until a local radio station played "Fell In Love With A Girl." I loved it instantly with its Kinks-like distortion and Ramones-like brevity and simplicity. I ended up going to see them shortly after.

I'm still sad they aren't together any more. I understand Meg White is done with music . . . but I'd welcome her back in a heartbeat.

I heard this previously unreleased track by The White Stripes on the radio a week or so back.

I just sat there and listened until it was all done. It's a great song, and it just reminds me how much I miss The White Stripes. They are one of my favorite bands of all time. As much as I like Jack White's other work - and I do - I just wish Meg White would team back up with him and release more songs.
